World War Mob

World War Mob
Logo Design by Corey Breen
World War Mob © Vito Delsante & Giancarlo Caracuzzo

Hi everyone. Yet another title I am working on is World War Mob published by New Paradigm Studios. I do all the Production and Pre-Press for the series, design the covers, and I also designed the book's logo itself.

Above is the final version, and below is all the different versions that I went through to get to that one. I really like all the different version and am very proud of the one they wound up choosing, but I especially love version C. God knows why, I just do. D is cool too, it looks like a crumbling city, very mobbish, but I understand why it wasn't chosen.

Also below is a link to purchase the series on Comixology (Issues #1 & #2 are available right now and I am currently finishing up the Production of issue #3 which means it will be available very soon digitally). The issues will be collected in TPB printed form when finally complete (it's a four issues limited series) and hopefully does well enough to warrant the squeal. Vito and Giancarlo are BRILLIANT and these series is gorgeous! Please pick it up, it's a labor of love for all involved! And let me know what you think of the logo!

I recently did the Production work on the original graphic novel by Bryan Q. Miller and Marcio Takara's Earthward. It was a Kickstarter project so not sure if there are copies available to purchase yet. I keep everyone informed about that on twitter if I hear anything. It was an honor and a pleasure to work on this book and I am really proud of it! It looks beautiful. Huge thanks to the letterer Rob Leigh for all his support and professionalism. And also to the AMAZING designer, Dylan Todd for al his fantastic design work on the cover and interiors including chapter titles. It's an incredible all-ages sic-fi adventure, and I hope you got a copy, you really enjoyed it. I was even able to include a black and white pin-up in the DIGITAL COPY of the book that went out to the Kickstarter backers which was really cool of Bryan to include. I can't WAIT for Volume 2!

Ygritte Regret-ti...

So this is the other study I did before I started the finished Ygritte illustration/print.  Again, as much as I loved this piece, it just didn't fit in the series like I wanted it too.  It was just a little bit different style then the other GOT pieces I've done before it too, and wasn't as "iconic" looking as I wanted.  It was too pin-up looking and although I am very  happy with the piece, I went in another direction obviously.

I think the final piece wound up right in the middle of these two studies, and fit perfectly with the Jon Snow piece, which is what I was going for.  Usually, I work on one image erasing and even starting over completely so I rarely have 3 or 4 different ideas for one piece, but for Ygritti, thats exactly what happened.  And I'm glad of that because although I won't be doing prints of these past two drawings, I am really happy with them.

I still may color this piece as well, or at least do a finished rendering of it... we shall see.

More Ygritte Goodness

Ygritte from Game of Thrones

This was a study I did of Ygritte before I did the final colored piece you've seen previously.  I was going to go with this shot before I scrapped it and went with another design entirely.  But I still really like this shot. Especially her face and her stance.  It just happens to be a little bit too cartoony to be one of my main Game of Thrones series of illustrations.

Next I'll post yet another study for Ygritte that I didn't go with either, for a completely different reason, but that I still absolutely love.  Until then, have a great weekend!

One of my favorite shows last year and one of the most anticipated for next year.  I think it is filming right now and will premiere in Mid-March, 2014.  So now is the time to go out and pick up the newly-released Blu-Ray and catch up!  It's an amazing show!

One of my favorite shows.  Last week's twist was so great because I was kind of sick of watching Carrie be in a mental institution and was starting to think this season was going nowhere fast.  Glad to be proved wrong, and now the tension and plot are so thick!

Waking up to a new Beginning!

The Wake © Scott Snyder & Sean Murphy
By Corey Breen
Gift to The Wake Vertigo Editor
Pencil & Marker

After 13 years I finally had to say goodbye to DC Comics.  After interning in the summer before my Senior year at Syracuse University in 1999, and joining the staff soon after graduating in 2000, I have worked at DC my entire career.  Earlier this August my wife accepted a job in Virginia and we followed her career there, leaving DC Comics and leaving New York entirely.

As hard a thing as it was to say goodbye to my job, my home, my routine and family and friends, I am ready to embark on the next phase of my life.  This piece above, which was a gift to a great friend and colleague, the editor to my favorite comic book right now, The Wake, will forever represent the moment that that phase of my life was put to rest.

It's time to start a new chapter and face new challenges.  I hope you all continue to follow me and wish me luck in whatever the future holds.
